About This Model

The OreKo Dollhouse Balcony Balustrade Railing Set is the most downloaded model in the OreKo catalog. With 4,900+ views and 44 purchases on Cults3D, it has become a go-to piece for dollhouse builders and miniature diorama makers looking for a high-quality, printable balcony railing that actually looks the part.

The set comes in multiple versions designed to give you flexibility based on your printer and your build goals. The easiest path is the print-in-place center bottom piece combined with the top section — print both, place the top on, done. No glue required. The holes are sized at a 0.02mm difference so the top snaps in perfectly with just enough fit to hold without adhesive.

For builders who want more control over color and material, the right and left pieces are also supplied separately. A double bevel top version and a short version (32mm tall vs the standard 40mm) are included for different architectural styles and dollhouse proportions.

Choosing Your Version

Print-in-Place (easiest): Use the file labeled Dollhouse-Balcony-Center-Bottom-Print-in-place with the top file Dollhouse-Balcony-Center-Top. Print both pieces, place the top on the bottom. The 0.02mm hole tolerance difference means it snaps in without adhesive.

Double Bevel Top: Use Dollhouse-Balcony-Center-Top-Double-Bevel instead of the standard top. This version adds a second layer that extends outward, giving the railing a more substantial slab-cap appearance. Looks particularly good at 0.12mm layer height.

Short Version: Files with short- at the beginning are 32mm tall instead of the standard 40mm. Better proportioned for lower-ceiling dollhouse builds or ground-floor porch railings.

Separate Right and Left Pieces: For builders who want to print the left and right railing sections in different materials or colors from the center. Greater visual control, slightly more assembly work. Lightly glue the joints or snap fit depending on your printer’s dimensional accuracy.

The Silk PLA Difference

This model was designed and photographed in generic silk PLA marble white — and the difference is immediately visible. Standard matte white PLA produces a clean railing. Silk marble white PLA produces something that genuinely looks like carved stone or cast iron at dollhouse viewing distance.

Silk PLA has a subtle metallic sheen that catches light differently than matte filament. On a balustrade with vertical posts and horizontal rails, that sheen creates micro-shadows that visually define the geometry in a way matte filament cannot. The individual baluster posts look round and dimensional rather than flat.

For display-quality dollhouse railings, silk marble white or silk pearl white PLA at 0.12mm layer height is the recommended combination. The print time increases but the finished result is worth it for any piece that will be prominently placed on a shelf or in a diorama.

Why 44 People Have Downloaded This Model

The balcony railing is one of the hardest architectural miniature elements to source commercially. Ready-made dollhouse railings are expensive, often inaccurate in scale, and almost never available in the exact style or proportion you need for a specific build.

3D printing solves every one of those problems. This set gives you:

Exact scale control. Print at 100% for the dimensions as designed, or scale in your slicer to match your specific dollhouse proportions perfectly.

Material freedom. White, cream, black wrought iron look, metallic gold — any filament color works. The design reads clearly in any material.

Multiple height options. Standard 40mm and short 32mm versions let you match different ceiling heights and railing applications without modification.

Two hours from file to finished piece. The print time screenshot included in the download shows the actual estimated time and material usage from Bambu Studio. No surprises.

What the Print Spec Screenshot Shows

Included in the download is the Bambu Studio slicer screenshot showing the actual estimated print time and filament usage for the standard version at standard settings.

Real numbers you can plan around before you start printing. No guesswork on whether the print fits in your available time, and no surprises on how much filament the job uses.

The standard version completed in approximately 2 hours total using generic silk PLA marble white on a Bambu X1C at standard 0.20mm settings.

Scaling and Using in Your Build

The model is designed to be scaled in your slicer without any redesign needed. The balustrade geometry maintains its visual integrity across a wide range of scale adjustments.

Scaling reference for common dollhouse scales:

  • 1:12 (standard dollhouse): Print at 100% — the model is designed for this scale
  • 1:6 (fashion doll scale): Print at 200% for proportionally correct railings
  • 1:24 (half scale): Print at 50% — 0.08mm layer height strongly recommended at this size

For installing in a dollhouse, the base of the railing sits flat and can be glued directly to a porch floor or balcony deck surface. Thin super glue (Loctite or Zap-a-Gap) bonds PLA to wood, foam board, and other PLA pieces cleanly. Apply with a pin to avoid glue spreading onto visible surfaces.
