Creality Ender-3 V3 Plus: 300mm CoreXY for Open-Frame Printing

The Ender-3 V3 Plus is the full-size Ender. A CoreXY frame, a 300 x 300 x 330mm build volume, and a PEI magnetic spring steel bed at $339. It is the natural step up for Ender owners who keep running into the 220mm ceiling.

Why the V3 Plus Makes Sense at $339

The jump from 220mm to 300mm is bigger than the numbers suggest. The V3 SE’s 220mm cube works for most smaller prints: miniatures, deck boxes, brackets, and everyday parts. But it runs out of room fast for cosplay props, larger mold boxes, and anything with a wide footprint. The V3 Plus’s 300 x 300mm footprint opens up a lot of prints that are not possible on the entry machine.

The move to CoreXY is the other significant upgrade. On the V3 SE, the bed slides back and forth on the Y axis during printing (bedslinger). That moving mass becomes a limitation at high speeds. CoreXY keeps the bed stationary on Z and moves the print head instead. The result is a more stable motion system, less ringing at speed, and the 500mm/s ceiling vs the V3 SE’s 250mm/s.

The PEI magnetic spring steel bed is worth noting. Print adhesion with PLA and PETG is strong during printing and releases cleanly when the bed cools. The plate pops off the magnetic base, and most prints flex off with light pressure. No scraping, no adhesion sprays needed for standard materials. It is a practical quality-of-life upgrade over the glass beds common at this price three years ago.

At $339 the V3 Plus is one of the better value-per-build-volume open-frame machines available. The trade-off vs the K1C at $349 is simple: if you need ABS, ASA, or carbon-fiber materials, the $10 difference buys you an enclosed machine. If you print PLA and PETG and just need the 300mm space, the V3 Plus is the right choice.

Who Should Buy It

Best For

Makers who have outgrown 220mm and want 300mm open-frame printing without paying for an enclosure they do not need. Anyone printing primarily in PLA and PETG at volume. A solid all-purpose hobby machine for large prop sections, mold boxes, and anything that needs a bigger footprint. The OreKo XL Adjustable Mold Box and larger cosplay prop pieces fit comfortably on the V3 Plus’s 300mm bed.

Not Ideal For

ABS, ASA, or engineering filaments that require an enclosed chamber. At $339 vs $349 for the K1C, the price difference is small enough that anyone planning to print warp-prone materials should step to the K1C for the enclosure. The V3 Plus is the right tool for PLA and PETG, not for materials that need heat retention.
