Tips, tutorials, model spotlights, and 3D printing deep dives from the OreKo team. Whether you are just starting out or fine-tuning your setup, there is something here for you.
Deep dives into individual OreKo models. Print settings, assembly tips, filament recommendations, and what makes each design tick.
Step-by-step tutorials on slicing, print settings, filament selection, bed adhesion, post-processing, and more. Written for real printers, not perfect conditions.
Card game setups, cosplay builds, dollhouse projects, and community prints. We cover the culture around the hobby, not just the hardware.
The One Piece Card Game has one of the most active 3D printing communities of any modern TCG. The anime aesthetic, vibrant character designs, and passionate playerbase make it a natural fit for custom printed accessories. A personalized Luffy Gear 5 deck box beats any generic case from a game store before you even sit…
Getting the size right on a 3D printed MTG deck box is the most common mistake first-time deck box printers make. A box that fits your sleeves on the day you print it can be too tight after the cards expand slightly from shuffling, or too loose if you switch sleeve brands. This guide covers…
Layer separation is when printed layers split apart at their bonding interface, either during printing or when you handle the finished part. It’s the FDM failure mode that reveals itself most brutally: the print looked fine, then you picked it up and it came apart. The cause is almost always inadequate layer fusion. Temperature, speed,…
Every failed 3D print starts with a first layer that didn’t bond properly. The rest of the print doesn’t care how good your slicer settings are or how well-tuned your machine is if the foundation isn’t stuck. Getting the first layer right is the single highest-leverage skill in FDM printing. This guide covers every reason…
Filament absorbs moisture from the air. In most environments this happens slowly enough that you won’t notice for weeks. In South Florida’s 74-80% average humidity, it happens within days. Wet filament produces rough surfaces, crackling during extrusion, bubbles in the surface finish, and reduced layer adhesion. The good news: proper storage is simple and inexpensive,…
PETG vs PLA strength is one of the most searched questions in FDM printing, and the answer is more specific than most people expect. PLA is actually stiffer than PETG under slow sustained load. PETG is significantly tougher under impact. They fail differently, in different situations, for different reasons. Choosing between them based on a…
Carbon fiber PLA is one of the most misunderstood filaments in consumer FDM printing. The name suggests it’s dramatically stronger than regular PLA. The reality is more specific: it’s stiffer and lighter per volume unit, it has a distinctive matte surface with visible carbon texture, but it’s also more brittle under impact and it will…
Most large cosplay props can’t print as a single piece. A helmet is bigger than almost every consumer printer’s build volume. A full breastplate definitely is. Long weapons always are. The solution is splitting the model into printable sections and assembling them into a solid finished prop. Done well, the seams are completely invisible after…
Cosplay prop printing has specific demands that not every printer handles equally well. You need large build volume for armor sections, reliable multi-day operation for big builds, speed to get through volume, and ideally multi-color capability for character-accurate props. Here is the honest breakdown of which machines handle cosplay work best in 2026, across every…
The filament you choose for a cosplay prop affects how much prep work it needs before paint, how it holds up at a convention, whether it survives being worn for 8 hours, and whether it makes it home from the event intact. Matte PLA is the right default for most prop work, but knowing when…
3D printing has become one of the most practical tools in a cosplayer’s workshop. It produces accurate, repeatable props at a cost and speed that foam and resin can’t match for complex geometry. If you’re new to prop printing or just combining 3D printing with cosplay for the first time, this guide covers everything: the…
Most people print files designed by others for months before they try designing their own. That’s completely normal. But when you hit the moment where you can’t find the exact thing you need, knowing how to model it yourself changes everything. This guide covers how to get started with 3D modeling specifically for printing, which…
